SPF, which is an abbreviation for Sender Policy Framework, is a certification system that aims at stopping the so-called e-mail forging. In simple terms, this indicates sending a message from one email address and making it look like it’s sent from a different one with the purpose to scam in some way the person opening it. In case the SPF protection is active for a domain, a record that includes all mail servers authorized to email messages with addresses under the domain is created. The record is stored on all the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic internationally, thus they all will recognize whether an email message comes from a valid server or not. The verification is performed at the first server where the email goes through and in the first case the email message is forwarded, while in the second it's removed and it never gets to the intended recipient. Applying SPF records for your domains will prevent all unwanted people from using your email addresses for harmful objectives.

SPF Protection in Web Hosting

When you host your domain names in a web hosting account with us and we handle the e-mails for them, you will be able to enable SPF protection for them with a few clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is accessible in a separate section where you're able to see which domains are already secured. For those which aren't, you will be able to enable the SPF protection option and set up various things in the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your e-mail addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and even to create a rule that emails can be sent only when your domain names include our MX records. The last option is the most secure one, but you can use it in the event that we handle the emails for your domains and do not use a different email provider. The newly generated records will propagate within 1 day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in a message by using your addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection feature is featured with all Linux semi-dedicated hosting, so if you host your domain names in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you can activate this service without difficulty for all of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a very easy to work with interface, which means that you don't have to be proficient in the use of computers to secure your e-mails. You will simply have to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you'd like to be permitted to send out emails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be activated for the domain name that you have chosen. As an extra option, we also give you the ability to restrict your outgoing emails and protect your mailboxes even further by allowing emails to be sent only if the domain in question includes our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain have to be handled on our end and not by some other supplier. Thus you will get even better control and there will not be a chance for somebody to forge your emails for malicious uses.
